On 2 June 2023 it will be exactly 50 years ago that the Van Gogh Museum opened its doors. Since 1973, hundreds of paintings, drawings and letters by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh can be admired in the building on Amsterdam's Museumplein. Photographer Paul van Riel has regularly photographed in and around the museum from the beginning until now. This overview shows a number of images of the same places in the museum, 50 years ago and now.
